Technology moves quickly, so it's important that we work closely with politicians, regulators, academics and third parties to help them understand the issues that affect the Internet and our users. Google and the web touch a lot of public policy debates, so we're looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious people to join our team. The role: Policy Manager
A great opportunity exists for a bright, well organized and energetic individual to work with a stellar team on cutting edge technology issues. Google is looking for a Public Policy and Government Relations Analyst, based in Brussels, to help develop campaigns to advance our public policy positions. You will need first-rate analytical and organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively in person and writing, an aptitude for learning and the discipline to manage different projects to tight deadlines simultaneously. No two days at Google are the same, so flexibility and a willingness to try new things are essential. The ideal candidate will have worked with or in government, politics, a think tank, advocacy group or trade association and preferably be familiar with Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and lead on outreach and campaigns to further understanding of Google’s business, as well as implications of business, technological or policy developments affecting the Internet.
* Engage with industry players, trade association and other organisations in support of policies that will help maintain a user-driven, open and innovative online environment.
* Engage directly with policy-makers, academics and industry partners.
* Monitor and research current and relevant emerging policy issues.
* Work cross functionally to develop policy positions for review by Google's policy, legal, and management teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree or equivalent. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


* Substantial direct experience in public policy, preferably including time spent working in public institutions, a regulatory agency, think tanks, consultants or the corporate world.
* First-rate written and verbal communications skills. Fluent written and oral English.
* Strong political and analytical skills, as well as deep understanding of policy, economic and technological developments affecting the Internet.
* Team player with a sense of humor and the ability to exercise good judgement in a rapidly changing and sometimes stressful environment.
