The role: Post-Production Manager, YouTube Next Lab - Los Angeles
YouTube's growing user base provides unique challenges and new responsibilities everyday. Fast-paced, dynamic and proactive, the Content and User Operations team serves YouTube's advertisers, publishers and users around the world. Like a diligent detective, your responsibilities are to uncover and understand common issues facing these groups, and then work with the right teams to tackle the problem. Whether surfacing issues to our technical teams or recommending improvements to the team's processes and tools, you enhance the user experience on YouTube while helping increase our loyal user base over time.
As the Post Production Manager, you will be a key member of a new team tasked with supercharging YouTube creator development and accelerating partner growth and success through expanding partner outreach, increasing investment in partner education and training, and launching new capabilities in audience development. This team will be located in a groundbreaking new facility located in Playa Vista - a mixed-use creative space where our vibrant community of YouTube creators can learn from industry experts, collaborate with other creators and have access to the latest equipment to take their channels to the next level. In this role, will be charged with ensuring the smooth operation of our post production facilities in our new Los Angeles facility. You will be supporting our partners as they use our post production resources to ingest, organize, output and publish their videos for YouTube. You'll be expected to be a doer as well as a thinker, who does not settle for the expected and conventional, but works to push ideas beyond the norm. You will work closely with our Technical Director to keep our post-production facility on the cutting edge of technology. You will act as an integral user, organizer, and all around go-to person for the Media Asset Management system. Professionally, you will bring demonstrated experience in post production facility technical operations for leading media companies.






Responsibilities:

* Work directly with creators in the YouTube Next Lab in their post production efforts and provide resources that will help them implement YouTube best practices through the entire lifecycle of a video and series.
* Work with the technical director to develop resource plans for post production facility usage with goals for numbers of creators supported and expected audience impact.
* Manage, maintain, periodically upgrade post production facility with the technical director.
* Identify, codify, and share best post production practices. Participate as an instructor in Studio and Lab programs designed to accelerate YouTube creator growth and development.
* Serve as resident expert in the following areas and closely support the Lab in establishing programs to educate staff and content partners in the following disciplines: Non-linear editing software; Compression formats, codecs and compression software; Video and audio tech specs on broadcast level - chroma, luma and all video levels; Media management, shared edit storage, servers, ftp, Media Asset Management systems; Production & Post-Production workflow; Digital media file formats.





Minimum qualifications:

* BA or BS degree in Video-Audio Media Production (In lieu of degree, 4 years of work experience).
* 3 years experience in TV, Film, Digital post-production.
* 2 years hands on experience in post production.





Preferred qualifications:

* Direct experience building channels and producing serial content on YouTube and/or similar platforms.
* Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a community using online media.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with impeccable technical judgement.
* Knowledge of online video and a desire to redefine how people discover and consume content
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a fast-paced team.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written.
