The area: YouTube and Video
The first video posted on YouTube was a 19-second clip called "Me at the Zoo."Â Today, more than 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute. The YouTube and Video team helps budding filmmakers and musicians build careers, creates products like Google TV and YouTube Live and runs collaborative projects like Life in a Day and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. We are leading a change in how we entertain, inform and share with one another, whether through cat videos or footage of a revolution in progress.
The role: Software Engineer, YouTube Mobile Clients
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies which have changed how millions interact, making accessible and useful the world's information. Our ambitions reach far beyond just Search To handle information at the the scale of the web requires ideas from every areas of computer science, including information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression and user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you work on small team and can switch teams and projects as our fast-paced business grows and evolves. We need our engineers to be versatile and always eager to tackle new problems as we continue to push technology forward.
With your technical expertise you manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables. You design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
As part of the YouTube Mobile Clients team in London you will work on mobile related projects and related applications, helping to create highly visible user facing products.
Responsibilities:
* Build the next generation mobile based TV experience with YouTube video content.
* Deliver a compelling on the go experience with full access to the entire YouTube catalogue.
* Design, implement and launch highly visible end user facing features.
* Develop leading edge User Interfaces and delight users with innovative media rich solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
* BS degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
* Development experience designing object-oriented JavaScript.
* Experience of native programming languages; Java, Android, Objective-C or C# for WP7
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
* Experience in mobile device, digital AV, video and audio codecs, media players
