Responsible for providing Packaging/R&D leadership in our Europe Sector business. Specifically focussed on Productivity, Breakthrough Innovation and Sustainability type of projects with high technical complexity and business impact which typically require development of new packaging technologies and platforms.
Principal Accountabilities
- The role's key purpose is to implement Packaging strategies through project management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Critical contributor to European Packaging strategy development through active investigation, analysis, and recommendation of new package formats, platforms and technologies forfruit & vegetable product platforms e.g.Juices, juice drinks, dessertsand soup categories.
- Identify and develop new package technology forms ahead of the competition; sustain and develop working relationship with key suppliers to achieve this goal.
- Lead cross functional teams in assessment of new package concepts.
- Drive initiatives to success through collaboration of marketing, operations, procurement, supply chain, regulatory and suppliers.
- Due to geographical and project coverage, the role has critical impact on the entire juice / juice drinks / fruit and vegetable business in Europe. Currently this role does not include CSD's, Gatorade, Lipton, and Waters.
- Develop and implement processes related to the role's primary area of responsibilities e.g. Huxley for Sustainability, packaging specifications and development process, etc.
- Identify and develop working relationship with the 3rd parties required for prototyping, new packaging format development, etc
- Develop and align specifications for the newly developed packaging formats
- Work with Marketing and local Market Teams to evaluate and test new initiatives, though providing insights on supply chain implications, financials and lead-times and contributing to consumer tests design
- The role is responsible for scoping and delivery medium and short term strategic projects (1 to 3 years) of high impact on business
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience in beverage packaging innovations and development
- Experience in consumer goods or packaging industry
- University degree in Chemistry, Packaging technology, Engineering or food technology; MBA degree is desirable
- Proven ability to influence and establish credible relationships with senior management.
- Good working knowledge of packaging technology and systems Strong communication and alignment skills.
- Good understanding of key business drivers and financial tools (NPV, IRR)
- Able to work effectively across functions.
