The role: Engineering Manager, Corporate Engineering
The Corporate Engineering team develops cloud-based internal applications and infrastructure for use by all employees at Google. For instance, the team currently develops applications and infrastructure that support teams involved with hiring, project and product management, marketing, payroll, finance and treasury.
As an Engineering Manager for the Corporate Engineering team, you have strong experience building and managing enterprise systems. You have a vision on how to develop, extend and deploy cloud infrastructure and applications to support a global, dynamic, innovative and rapidly growing enterprise. You have the ability to form strong cross-functional relationships to lead a sizable project team, taking the project from start to finish. You will work with product managers and/or customers to understand feature requirements and drive their detailed definition.
Responsibilities:
* Manage a diverse team of software engineers in their day-to-day work.
* Coordinate and communicate with other engineering leads globally to enhance and further the mission of the Corporate Engineering team.
* Drive design and implementation efforts.
* Demonstrate independence, creativity and initiative and the ability to master a solid understanding of the company?s architecture and its business goals.
Requirements:
* BA/BS degree in computer science preferred or equivalent work experience.
* Experience developing enterprise-class SaaS platforms and/or applications.
* Experience managing complex technical projects as well as problem solving and technical innovation.
* Proven ability to share knowledge with more junior team members via a formal mentoring relationship, reviewing code, reviewing design docs, giving technical talks, teaching classes or acting as a consultant on projects.
* Proven ability to motivate and demonstrate technical leadership and manage a sizable team technical software engineers.
* Strong sense of focus and excellent attention to detail while working in a very fast-paced environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
